Google Business Profile

The free asset that decides whether shoppers ever see your agency.

For local searches your Business Profile frequently matters more than your website. It populates the map pack, it is free, and most independent agency profiles are sitting at half filled in.

Why it matters most

The map pack answers the question before your site gets asked.

and often last

For “insurance agent near me,” the map pack sits above the normal results and most people never scroll past it. Your website is competing for attention that the profile has already spent.

which is why it gets neglected

Nobody sends an invoice for it, so nobody schedules it. It is the highest-return hour in local search and it routinely sits at sixty percent complete for years.

in a way a national brand cannot fake

A carrier with one page for fifty states has no profile in your town. You have an office, a license, and an address. This is the fight structurally tilted toward you.

What gets done

Every field that moves rankings, filled properly.

Categories, primary and secondary

Primary set to Insurance agency, then a secondary category for every line you actually write. This is among the strongest signals available to you, it takes two minutes, and it is the single most commonly left half-done.

Every service area you produce in

Not only the town your office sits in. If you write across three counties, the profile should say so — a shopper two towns over is a shopper you can win.

Services listed line by line

Auto, home, flood, windstorm, umbrella, commercial, each entered as its own service with a real description. An empty services section is a profile that matches fewer searches.

NAP that matches your site character for character

Name, address, and phone identical on the profile, the website, carrier directories, and every listing. “Suite 200” in one place and “Ste. 200” in another is enough inconsistency to cost you at the margins.

Real photographs, added regularly

The actual office, the actual team, the actual sign. Stock images of a handshake do nothing here. Profiles with genuine, current photos get materially more engagement than profiles without.

Reviews arriving steadily, and answered

Count and recency both feed rankings. Forty reviews from one week in 2023 look worse to Google and to a human than one review every fortnight. Every review gets a reply, including the mediocre ones.

Worth knowing

Your profile is not the same as your AI visibility.

A complete Business Profile is what Google reads. It is not what every AI assistant reads — several ground their answers about local businesses in an entirely different places database, which means an agency can be immaculate on Google and absent from ChatGPT. That is a separate, cheap, mostly unclaimed piece of work, and we are straight about which one is urgent.

Questions

What agency owners ask first.

I already have a profile. Is there anything left to do?

Almost certainly. Most agency profiles we look at have a primary category set and little else — no secondary categories, no services entered, service areas limited to one town, and photos from whenever the profile was created. Each of those is a set of searches you are not matching. The audit tells you which ones.

Do you take over my profile, or do I keep control?

You keep ownership. We work as a manager on your profile, which means you can remove our access at any time without losing the profile, the reviews, or the history. An agency that asks you to hand over ownership of your own listing is worth asking why.

How fast does this show up?

Faster than anything else in local search. Profile changes can move within weeks, where content and citation work generally takes three to six months to compound. It is the one part of this discipline with a short feedback loop, which is exactly why it is the first thing we do.

What about reviews — can you get them for me?

We build the ask into the moment a policy binds, when goodwill is highest, with a direct link that goes out by text. What we will not do is buy reviews or gate them so only happy clients are asked. Both violate Google's policies and both are recoverable-from at best.

We will look at your profile for free.

Part of the 5-point audit: what your profile is missing, which searches that costs you, and what to fix first. No obligation attached to it.
